1985 Kawasaki ZL 900a Eliminator , Your Chance to Own the first MUSCLE BIKE!!!! The Eliminator is a straight four, in the long and rugged tradition of the original 900cc superbike, the legendary Z-1. The basic engine was first seen in the ’84 Ninja, of course, a 900cc giant killer sport machine that gave the best 1000 and 1100cc road burners a run for their money on the racetrack, at the strip, and in HOT ROD’S six-bike top speed shootout. The Ninja is back, but with the Eliminator as its new city-bred cousin. The high-revving Ninja motor was fine for making time out at the Willow Springs road course, but for the stoplight-to-stoplight crowd Kawasaki knew that more torque and low-end power was required. Launching an open-class street bike depends on keeping the front wheel down as the rear wheel hooks up. To get the Eliminator to put its energy into straightforward lunging, the chassis designers kept the Eliminator as long and low as possible. The wheelbase is a car-like 62 inches, and the seat height, with a rider aboard, is a nearly underground 27 inches. The rear tire is a breakthrough in motorcycle design and styling: it’s over 6 inches wide, the largest tire ever sold on a production machine.
