1982 Honda XR500R Refurbishment ended Sept 11, 2023
I bought it with approx 70% of the work already done, but here is what I know. Engine is strong no smoke ever hot or cold, compression strong, brand new following:
Frame and fuel tank just repainted,
New sprockets and HD chain,
New Honda air filter,
Barnett HD clutch springs,
EBC HD Clutch Plates,
Honda Carburetor kit & all new fuel lines,
New fuel selector Valve,
Front & rear wheels relaced with new spokes,
Front & rear tubes & Tires – Knobbies,
Front fork seals replaced & new fork rubber “Gaiters” boots
Front & rear brake shoes
Kickstand & hardware
Brand New Pilot’s seat
New Front & rear fenders & front number plate with new lights (inop) at this time. Who needs lights?
New cables where needed,
New clutch & brake levers, perches & rubber dust seals
Intake & Exhaust Valves adjusted,
All new & correct decals some came from as far away as Norway
Fresh oil change
Supertrapp exhaust system
It is not new and therefore not perfect, but decent for sure. A lot of shipping and a lot of labor. You can buy this for much less than you can do one yourself, all parts were expensive and hard to find.
Needs only a new home. Bought to build then ride as I bought a new one just like this in 1982, but I was nearly 40 then and well you do the math.
Runs strong and smooth, clutch is smooth and doesn’t slip at all, gears shift smooth and final drive works as it should. Cash only and no trades thank you. Still on the original MSO and sold with a bill of sale, so if you don’t register it????? (You cannot reg it as it isn’t street legal) Therefore No sales tax!!!
